UPS power supply battery charging six ways to introduce
At present, the UPS power supply battery charging methods used in the main six: constant current charging, constant voltage charging, fast charging, balanced charging, constant voltage current limit charging, intelligent charging.
1, constant-current charging: constant-current charging is the method of charging with segmented constant current. It is generally realized by the charging device itself adjustment. The charging current can be selected and adjusted arbitrarily, which is more adaptable and especially suitable for long time charging with small current, and is also beneficial for charging the battery with slow capacity recovery. The disadvantage is that the initial charging current is too small, and the charging current at the late stage of charging is too large and the charging time is too long, and more gas is precipitated. Because the variant of constant current charging is segmented constant current charging, so the charging current should be adjusted in time to avoid excessive current in the late charging period, and attention should also be paid to the size of the charging current, charging time, the timing of the conversion current and the selection of the charging termination voltage, etc., which should be operated strictly in accordance with the charging range.
2, constant voltage charging: constant voltage charging means that each single cell battery is charged with a constant voltage (generally take a single cell battery multiplied by 2.5V). Features are: the initial charging current is quite large, the battery electric potential and electrolyte body relative density rise faster, with the continuation of charging, charging current gradually reduced, only a very small current through the end of charging: charging time is short, low energy consumption, general charging 4 ~ 5h battery can get its own capacity of 90% ~ 95%; if the charging voltage is properly selected, 5h can complete the entire charging process, and The whole charging process does not need to be looked after, and this charging method is widely used for supplementary charging. As the initial charging current is too large, when charging the battery with excessive depth of discharge, it will cause the initial charging current to rise sharply, which will easily cause the battery to be charged to overcurrent or damage the charging equipment. The charging process is not applicable to the initial charging and desulfurization charging of the battery because the charging current cannot be adjusted. The charging process is difficult to compensate for changes in battery voltage, so it is completely difficult to complete for batteries with slow capacity recovery.
3、Fast charging: Fast charging refers to the charging method with high current method. Fast charging does not produce a large number of bubbles and does not heat up so that the charging time can be shortened. At present, the common fast charging mainly pulse charging and large current speed reduction fast charging two.
4, balanced charging: balanced charging is a small current (1/20C20A) for 1 ~ 3h charging process. Mainly used to eliminate a group of floating charging operation (that is, the DC power supply and battery connected in parallel mode of operation) battery in the same operating conditions, due to some reasons caused by the imbalance of the whole group of batteries and the formation of the difference, in order to achieve the balance of the whole group of batteries. This method generally cannot be used frequently, but the battery must be equalized and charged when one of the following conditions occurs.
A battery group for a long time in the current discharge, or a long time to carry a DC charge after not timely charging.
B battery individual single cell voltage, electrolyte density is low, when the whole group of batteries produce differences.
C did not implement charging and discharging according to the prescribed cycle.
5, constant voltage current-limiting charging: constant voltage current-limiting charging is mainly used to remedy the shortcomings of excessive charging current when charging at constant voltage (the same method as constant voltage charging), by automatically adjusting the charging current by connecting a resistor (current-limiting resistor) in series between the charging power supply and the battery being charged. When the charging current is too large, the voltage drop on the current limiting resistor is also large, thus reducing the charging voltage; when the charging voltage is too small, the voltage drop on the current limiting resistor is also small, and the voltage loss of the charging equipment output is also small, so that the charging current is automatically regulated so that it does not exceed a certain limit. This method is now widely used in the initial charging of maintenance-free batteries and the supplementary charging of ordinary batteries.
6, intelligent charging: intelligent charging is currently a more advanced charging method, the principle is to dynamically track the acceptable charging current of the battery during the entire charging process. Application of du/dt technology, that is, the charging power supply according to the state of the battery automatically determine the charging process parameters, so that the charging current from beginning to end to maintain the battery acceptable charging battery curve, to maintain the battery almost in the state of gas-free precipitation charging, so as to protect the battery. The method is suitable for various states, types of battery charging, safe, reliable, time-saving and energy-saving.
This is a brief introduction to UPS battery charging method, the user or according to their own application needs to choose the charging method, intelligent charging is currently the most widely used one, but also a better way.
